Early blood and urine tests
Common early investigations may include a blood count, blood group and Rh type, urine testing and screening for selected infections. Results can identify anaemia, urinary infection or other issues that are often manageable when recognised early.
The exact panel depends on history and local clinical protocols. Later testing may reassess haemoglobin, glucose or other measures, particularly when symptoms or risk factors make closer monitoring useful.
- Understand why the test is advised
- Ask when the result will be reviewed
- Keep copies in the pregnancy record
