The first visit is intended to confirm whether cataract is the main reason for reduced vision. The doctor may also examine the cornea, eye pressure, retina and optic nerve because another condition can change the treatment plan or expected improvement.

Plan the lens before surgery

Biometry, corneal measurements, eye health and your preferred visual target guide the IOL discussion.

Lens counselling should connect measurements with everyday priorities such as reading, computer work, night driving and willingness to use glasses. A higher-priced lens is not automatically the most suitable lens for a particular eye.

Cataract surgery is commonly completed as a day procedure, but preparation and discharge instructions remain individual. Arrange transport home, use the prescribed drops correctly and attend the reviews scheduled by the treating team.
