The Nallasopara East centre combines eye consultation facilities with JEWCC’s dedicated eye operation theatre. The surgical plan is still confirmed only after examination, measurements and discussion of lens choices.
The eye is assessed to confirm that cataract is the main cause of reduced vision and to identify factors that may affect the result.
Biometry helps calculate IOL power, while corneal measurements show whether regular astigmatism may be relevant. Retina or optic-nerve disease can limit the final vision even when the cataract procedure itself is successful.
The team provides case-specific preparation, anaesthesia and medicine instructions. Arrange for an adult to accompany you and do not plan to drive home.
The eye is numbed and cleaned before the cloudy natural lens is removed and replaced with the planned IOL. Many patients are awake and notice light or movement, but the exact anaesthesia and procedure can vary.
Use only the prescribed drops and attend scheduled reviews. Sudden worsening vision, severe pain, marked redness, flashes or many new floaters require urgent medical advice.
Mild grittiness, watering or temporary blur can occur early, but symptoms should generally improve rather than worsen. Written instructions from the treating surgeon take priority over generic internet or family advice.
