Your surgeon’s written instructions always take priority because drops, eye protection and activity limits vary by procedure and eye health. Keep every scheduled follow-up even when the eye feels comfortable.
Wash your hands before drops, avoid touching the bottle tip to the eye and do not stop or add medicines without advice.
Different drops may need spacing so one does not wash out the other; follow the schedule provided by the treating team. Continue pre-existing glaucoma or other eye medicines unless the doctor has specifically changed them.
Do not rub or press the eye. Use the shield or glasses advised by your team and ask before returning to heavy lifting, swimming, dusty work or strenuous exercise.
Reading, television and screens do not normally damage the operated eye, but vision may be temporarily blurred. Avoid water or soap entering the eye and use extra caution with stairs, hot vessels, cooking or machinery until vision is safe.
Contact the treating team or an appropriate emergency eye service for worsening vision, severe or persistent pain, marked redness, flashes, a sudden increase in floaters, or any concerning change.
Mild grittiness or watering can occur, but severe pain or rapidly worsening vision is not routine recovery. Do not wait for the next scheduled appointment if symptoms are worsening or a curtain-like shadow appears.
